Web application bridge
The web application bridge uses reverse proxy technology to integrate web-based content providers, such as the Microsoft SharePoint server, with IBM® WebSphere® Portal.
Administrators must first create the content providers profiles, policies, and web dock applications. Content authors can add the applications to a page without requiring direct network access to the backend application. A special engine maps Uniform Resource Identifier (URIs) on the iFrame portlet to real URIs from the content providers.

The portal administrator collects information about the content provider and its applications and then follows basic configuration steps to enable the Web Application Bridge. - Content provider profile
The content provider profile identifies the content provider and contains information about its deployment that includes any proxy based security. - Content provider profile policy
After you create the content provider profile, create policies for different applications and resources that are served by the content provider. - Content provider policy connection
The information on the Connection tab defines the requests and retrievals between the content provider and the web browser, including the type of media. Use this tab to specify allowed methods, content types, and to tune connection parameters. - Content provider policy requests and responses
Use the Request and Response tabs to define a fine-grained control over HTTP headers, HTTP cookies, and filters. Filters provide a programmatic control over content during the request and response phases of the interaction between IBM WebSphere Portal and the web application. - Content provider policy single sign-on
When you create a policy for your profile, define the authentication to configure single sign-on between the Web Application Bridge and the secured web application. - Web Dock application
Create Web Dock Applications that content authors can add to their web pages. Configure how the web dock application displays on the page and enable other dynamic features according to the page layout and design. - Web application bridge inter-portlet communication
The web application bridge supports sending events from the client side and server side. The Web Dock portlet can send and receive events from other portlets on the same page. It uses a client-side technique that is based on OpenAjax. With client-side events, no page refresh is required. The Web Dock portlet can also send events to other portlets. It uses a server-side technique that is based on the JSR 286 event support. With server-side events, a full page refresh is required. - Web Dock application client-side plug-ins
You can enable the provided client-side plug-ins or create and add your own plug-ins for any web dock application.
